Creating Your First Waypoint List (Mobile)

Modified on Wed, 18 Dec, 2024 at 12:46 PM

The app starts by displaying the Dashboard/Home. This shows a list of Getting Started links to tutorials and support documentation.

Before You Begin: Export a backup of all data and save it in a secure and easily accessible location. For the app, store a copy in your phone's files or email it to yourself for future reference. This ensures you can preserve your data and recover from any unintended changes or errors.

1. Waypoints Tab

The Waypoints Tab displays the available Waypoint Lists for management.

  1. Creating a New List
    • On My Marks can read a variety of data formats, including GPX and CSV and has backend to support importing and conversion of most file formats (pending). This can be done via a SD card on computer, or via mobile through the On My Marks app using GPX apps such as Garmin’s Active Captain, C-Map, Navionics, iNavX, etc.
  2. Import from Saved File on Device
    • Follow Manufacturer’s instructions to export waypoints manually to an SD Card. GPX is the preferred file storage type.
    • From the Dashboard, Click the Upload Waypoints icon (+)
    • Determine if you’d like to create a new list or upload to an existing list. For a new list, click Select File, navigate to the saved file to upload.

  4. Alternatively, the file can be shared to the app by utilizing the send feature and selecting the OnMyMarks app icon.

Note: This feature is particularly useful to send and receive files as needed. Suggested uses include sharing waypoint lists, organizing different lists for specific purposes, or safeguarding data in case of loss.

    2. Select Chart view. Navigate to Menu > User Data > Menu > Export to GPX File
    3. Send directly to On My Marks App or save file for later use. If using desktop version, transfer file (via email or other method) to desktop for upload.

    1. Sync Manufacturer’s App with MFD
    2. Under MY DATA, Select Places
    3. Click Menu, Select Export as GPX
    4. Select the Waypoints you would like to share or use the Select All button
    5. Select Export, and Choose On My Marks App or save file for later use
  3. Import from other Apps (Navionics, iNavX, etc)
    1. Use the manufacturer’s instructions to export the file to GPX, typically found under a menu or account settings.
    2. Save to files or share directly to On My Marks app for upload.
  4. Import from CSV and Column Mapping
    1. On My Marks has the capability to import CSV files with specified column mapping to identify which columns alight with corresponding fields in GPS software, (latitude, longitude, name, description, etc)
    2. Best Practice – assign column headers to the CSV File prior to import for easier mapping.
